Welcome 4th Grade students and parents!
This year is your child's first year participating in Student/Parent Educational And Career (SPEC) conferencing. It is the first part of district wide SPEC conferences which will be held during grades 4, 8, and 11. I am very excited to introduce the conferencing process to you and your child. SPEC conferences are held to help students take responsibility for their future, share thoughts and feelings with parents, and to develop connections between the student, parent and school.
For the past several months, your 4th grader has been preparing a Learner's Resume to share with you at the SPEC conference. This includes goals, strengths, learning styles, interests, and so much more.
SPEC conferences will be held May 6-10, May 13-17 and May 20-24 from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm (there will be a break for lunch from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm, any time slot on the sign-up with a X is unavailable). Each conference is scheduled for 30 minutes but should only last 15 to 25 minutes. Our hope is that each child will have a parent attend. If you are not able to schedule a conference during any of the open times, please contact me so we can work something out.
On the day of your child's SPEC conference, please go to the office first to sign in. SPECs will be held in my counseling office which is Rm. 136. Turn left toward the elementary school wing and my office is the 3rd door on the left.
I look forward to allowing your child to share with you the things they have learned and explored about themselves!
