The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah School District will hold a Veterans Day Program on Friday, November 8th at 11:00am in the high school gymnasium. The High School Band and Chorus will perform a few selections for this event, which will also include speeches and poetry readings from high school students. Guest speaker for the program is retired United States Army Staff Sergeant, Richard Daseke.
Mr. Daseke served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1979. Following graduation from Oshkosh High School he attended Janesville Technical School where he received his private pilot and mechanics license. He was drafted into the Army in May of 1968. During his time with the Army, he served in Vietnam and Korea. Mr. Daseke held various positions within the army starting out in the Eighth Cavalry in the Republic of Vietnam, then reassigned to Company C 229th assault helicopter as a crew chief, and finally serving in the Republic of Korea in the Second Infantry Division as part of the maintenance and recovery crew. He was Honorably Discharged as an E-6 Staff Sergeant.
The school district would like to invite the community to attend and share in this event of honoring all who have served or are currently serving.
