  • Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, And Calculus Students:  It is required that all Algebra, Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus students have a calculator for class.  Students enrolled in Algebra and Geometry will be using a calculator on a daily basis.  Students enrolled in the upper level math classes (Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus) are required to have a graphing calculator.  A graphing calculator is more expensive, but it is necessary for class work and for homework in Advanced Algebra.  The Pre‑Calculus and Calculus classes are based on exploring the graphs of all types of functions.  Graphing calculators should be brought to class daily for that exploration.

Texas Instruments offers the best and most widely used graphing calculators.  Suggested types of calculators:  Regular Calculator:  TI-30XII2 (multi-function); Graphing Calculators:  TI-84+, TI-83+, TI-Nspire, TI-89, Voyage 200, and TI‑73 Explorer are just a few of the suggested calculators available.  (Several of these are the best, but also the most expensive.)

If parents or students have questions or concerns about certain calculators (function or graphing), please contact Mr. Loest or Mrs. Maertz.   A graphing calculator can also be used in Chemistry, Physics, and AP Environmental Science and AP Biology classes, as well as, in future college courses.
